hey! just came back from obs. n it totally RAWKS. my instructor was kenny. n my watch armstrong. kenny rawked toooooo!on the first day, a guy received us at the jetty of pulau ubin. he was wearing sunglasses n holding a walkie talkie. he was damn cool. n guess who he was? kenny. wif sun glasses...when we found out that kenny was tt cool guy, (he took off his sun glasses), we were disappointed. lolx! just kidding. actually hes nt bad looking lah.just that we told him that to suan him. ok back to obs. firstly...306 totally hated obs. all the mundane stuff. it was arduous at first. but when we got the hang of it...woo hoo!
first day: kayaking - capsize drill. my leg got stuck in the kayak cos i put it in the wrong position. n kenny kept pulling me out fo the kayak....ouch.after more kayaking. when we wanted to like get out due to time constraints. we stepped into mud!DEEP mud. n when u wanna get ur left leg out...right sinks in deeper. n vice versa. n guess wad?! i got stuck inside the longest. i cldnt move. had to get mel (amundsen's instructor) to save my life! n yes both our sandals n shoes were terribly soiled. sry mel!
2nd day. actually i cant rmb the order of what we did. but i do rmb that we did mroe capsizing. n my shoes totally lost their souls. but cld still use them to walk. lolx!
on subsequent days, we did stuff like treking, climbing the inverted tower, more pitching of tents,rock cimbing,night walk
treking was a little nt v good. cos we had to carry a VERY heavy bag to our camp site. v heavy! kenny wld probably b laughing but it was v heavy to me...we treked to a camp site but then, we had to leave. y? cos the other watches that were supposed to pass us the kayaks had to stop at a destination nearer to them. they were against the current. actually quite poor thing. in obs, everythn must go for it! if nt v wasted. so i dun regret anythn.
ok climbing the inverted tower was sth i thot i'd nv accomplish. but wif dawn's help, we reached the top! i was like shivering! but then it wasnt so bad. nw i wanna thank JN for belaying me. Amelina, nancy, liting, divya,anna, sutha etc for gving me instructions on hw to climb! wanna thank kenny for repeatedly helping me tie the rope when i forgot how to.so i reached the top~ great sense of accomplishment!
rock climbing gives me the shivers. i was climbing and about to fall on. guess wad happened? i started swinging like a pendulum.there r 4 sides to this construction. i swung frm the one i was climbing on, to the other side. i was slowly let down. n cried out of shock. boo hoo.
for the pitching of tents. i feel that i cld hv contributed more. so sry tent mates.they include jn, chen hoon, madhu.v sry. there were other things tht i did that u guys werent happy abt. sry for that too.
night walk was exhilarating! we walked down a path together n suddenly, mel dropped the bomb. we had to go up one by one. w/o using torchlight! i kept hearing panting sounds behind me. i thot it was a wild boar. then...i kept seeing dark patches (which were grooves in the ground) n i avoided them. thinking they were wild boars. i oso thot i saw ppl squatting down n trying to catch me. thye were actually leaves n trees. lolx! but super scary!i finally reached the top. n guess wad? i stepped into a puddle of mud...too happy that i was up there to notice that mud thing.
we did kayaking for 7hrs straight, one round pulau ubin!i thot i wld nv do it. but i did! my partner yi xin was sea sick. b4 that we were rather annoyed wif each other. so i wana apologise to her for getting pissed off. cos the tide was against us. after she got sea sick,i had to paddle alone. so v tired. in the end, we changed partners. n guess who was the one sitting in front of me? Alicia. Alicia NG. jiang he's pri sch best fren! lolx. so we renamed the kayak the "alicia kayak"! lolx.throughout the camp i did miss jiang he. i think so far in rgs, other than qian, shes my best fren liao. we practically do everythn together. so it wont change! even if we're in diff classes.so when we reached the shore, we sat in a circle. n cheered.liqi, charlene, madhu, i n a few other prefects n psls led the cheering. n we sang dedication. kenny was like gay-ly saying in a high pitched tone, "yay! rgs rawks". i shall take it that it was on purpose...i hope so...during the kayak, those instructors were like sitting on speed boats...n us? gruelling on kayaks that were abt to capsize. kenny was wearing this cap.n it cld b extended such that he looked like the japanese kempetai is tt hw u spell it? when we told him that, he said sth in jap. i hv no idea what it was...lolx
on the last day, we had to clear up. wash all the tents lah...mesh tins (is tt hw u spell it?)then we bought souvenirs after paying kenny for the burnt tent (due to lighting of mos coil.eh hmm dawn n co.'s mos coil)lolx.n for the pictures we took on the first day in our horrible wet clothes after capsizing...we asked kenny to write personal notes n to sign it. yep. as if hes a star...lolx.he prob felt like one.i bought a black t-shirt to serve to strive n nt to yield...chen hoon has a sew on patch wif the word outward bound singapore. then i was thinking. y nt get kenny to sign it? so i told her tt idea, her eyes literally lit up! so i went to buy one. n we ran to find kenny. lucky he has a permanent marker. so he was again a ming2 xin1. JN said "wah kenny today u like star like tht, sign autographs.only TODAY" lolx. n we laughed. we love suaning him. he quite poor thing. but i think hes used to it. after the previous RI armstrong watch suaned him abt his height n gf too.lolx! so now that signed sew on patch is in my wallet. it has mel's sig too.:)
IN TOTAL: obs was fun. enriching. enlightening. exhilarating. i hv no regrets going. i hv 7 mos bites. no sand fly bites. 4 minor cuts due to the kayak. (i was blessed that when i was in the deep mad, i din cut myself) 2 major sun burns. one on forehead. one on my thighs. hw did i get the one on my thighs? i was applying sunblock while standing up. when i sat down, the ends of my FBTs kinda rolled up...so that part was burnt. n its v red.!n painful. sheesh.lolx.
finally, kenny rawks. hes v nice. v suan-able. n 306 totally loves kenny!every msn nick has "i miss kenny" "kenny rawks". i think we miss him for than obs. after all, it was partly due to him that made obs funnnn.lolx.there was once when we were at night walk. kenny went off first. so that he wld be a the original place where we started off to receive us when we reach after our long way back alone. those who arrived first few, i was like number 5. sat in a circle. he was sitting on that portable chair. so we said. " kenny, r u a man anot? let us sit lah!" n he finally did1 he sat on the grass wif us. n i said "now we're equals". lol. then he leaned on his elbow in a model (girl model) like position. n i was like "kenny, u think ure models ah? cannot pass leh"...n he has the usual rolling eyes expression, w/o rolling his eyes.knw wad i mean? the wadeva kinda look. but nt pissed off. the nice but wadeva kinda look... ok nvm.
okie. im done!there nth else. just emailed kenny. its like 9pm liao
